TASHKENT-SAMARKAND-DUSHANBE-WAKHAN CORRIDOR-OSH.
THROUGH THE PAMIR HIGHWAY
Day 1. Arrival to Tashkent Airport. Meeting with the company representative. City tour: Hast Imam Square with its madrasah of Barak-Khan, Tilla Sheikh Mosque, mausoleum of the Saint Abu Bakr Kaffal Shashi (XVI century) and the Islamic Institute of Imam al-Bukhari. The world famous Quran of Caliph Uthman - Ottoman has been preserved here. Ottoman Koran is the primary source of Islam holy book that was written in the middle of VII century. After lunch visit Chorsu Bazaar. Overnight in a hotel in Tashkent.
Day 2. Transfer to the airport. Fly to Bukhara. Meeting with the company representative at the airport. Bukhara City Tour: Ismail Samani Mausoleum, Chashma-i Ayub Mausoleum, Ark Citadel (5th century AD), Poi-Kalyan (XII-XVI) and Lyabi-Khauz (XVI-XVII) Ensembles. Overnight in a hotel in Bukhara.
Day 3. Depart Bukhara and drive to Samarkand. On the way visit Imam al-Bukhari Memorial Museum, which is located in a modern building, near Samanid’s Mausoleum; Registan Square - a real gem located in the very heart of the ancient city of Samarkand; Gur-Emir Mausoleum (XV century); Bibi-Khanym Mosque; Observatory of Ulugbek; Shakhi Zinda Necropolis. Overnight in a hotel in Samarkand.
Day 4. Depart Samarkand and drive to Sarazm (Penjikent) Uzbek-Tajik border check-post. Cross into Tajikistan. Meet with a Tajik Guide and drivers. Drive to Dushanbe. Overnight in a guest-house in Dushanbe. 290 km
Day 5. Half day Dushanbe City Tour: Museum of Antiquities, Ismaili Center, Gurminj Museum of Traditional Musical Instruments. In the afternoon head to the Pamirs. On the way enjoy the view of Nurek lake dam and discover Hulbuk fortress and the mausoleum of a poet and scholar of the 14th century, Khoja Mir Sayid Ali Hamadani in Kulyab. Overnight in a homestay in Kalai-Khumb town. 405 km
Day 6. Depart Kalai-Khumb (Darvaz) and head to Khorog. On the way enjoy the Afghan villages along the Panj (Oxsus) River. Overnight in a homestay in Khorog. 250 km
Day 7. Hal day Khorog City Tour: Botanical Garden, Historical Museum, City Park, Visitor Information Center. After lunch depart Khorog and drive to Ishkashim. Overnight in a guest-house in Ishkashim. 150 km
Day 8. Drive to the Wakhan Corridor. Visit the ruins of Kah-Kaha and Yamchun fortresses, Bibi Fotima hot-spring, pre-Islamic shrines, Museum of Sufi Muboraki Vakhoni, astronomer and scholar of the 19th century. 2-3 hours trek on the route Zong-Langar to see the ruins of Abreshimkala (‘Silk fortress’) and Langar petroglyphs. Overnight in a homestay in Langar village. 135 km
Day 9. Drive to Bulunkul (the coldest place in Tajikistan) along Pamir River via Khargush Pass (4344 m). 2-3 hours hike to the pass viewpoint (Panarama Ridge) for the great view of the whole Wakhan valley, both Tajik and Afghan. In the evening drive to Yashilkul (‘Green’) lake to meet the sunset. Overnight in a home-stay in Bulunkul settlement. 130 km
Day 10. Depart Bulunkul and head to Rangkul village through the Rangkul and Shokul lakes. Good chance to observe the rare Indian goose (Anser Indicus) in its natural habitat. In the afternoon walk around the village. Overnight in a homestay in Rangkul. 210 km
Day 11. Depart Rangkul village and head to Sary-Tash of Kyrgyzstan. On the way short stop to walk along the Karakul lake. Cross the border into Kyrgyzstan. If there are no clouds on the horizon enjoy the view of Lenin Peak (7134m) Sary-Tash. Overnight in a homestay in Sary-Tash. 265 km
Day 12. Drive to Osh. Check-in in a guest-house. After lunch Osh City Tour: Sulaiman Too, Osh Bazaar, and City Park. Overnight in a guest-house in Osh. 190 km
Day 13. Transfer to the Osh Airport. Fly to Bishkek. 20 km
